a break from the essays...
...to post about social responsibility. I wrote a comment on jordan's blog in response to the political agenda of gunlaws coming up in the next election so i felt like venting a bit here.

gunlaws gunlaws gunlaws. On the surface this might not seem like a race issue but it totally is, since in Canada the ppl most likely to pull the triggers (or so says our "unbiased" Canadian media outlets) are young black males. What are we saying by enforcing gunlaws? That you need to get your piece registered and if you don't and you get caught with a pistol, you'll get jail time.

Now gunlaws have been a bigger issue as of late given that the number of homicides of black on black violence has increased. Take into account of some innocent bystanders who weren't black who got shot as well and now we have a "moral epidemic" (It's always a moral case when a black man shoots and kills a non-black person..."OH NO! NOT IN MY NEIGHBOURHOOD!"... but if we flip the switch and give the white man the gun and have a black person lying on ground, it's not so bad).

So what effect do gunlaws have on our homicide problem? As Jordan was talking bout in his blog, if you want a gun, a gunlaw isn't going to stop you from getting one... it'll just give the cops another excuse to toss your hide in Kingston Penitentiary.

Bling Blang. get Rich or die Trying succckkkaaa

When you watch MuchMusic nowadays don't you just feel good knowing that if u had kids right now u could leave them in front of the set to oogle over bouncing bootays in seanapaul videos and gunfingers raised in 50 cent vids? just warms the heart . So we've got an urban culture that glorifies "the lovely lady lumps" and gangsta culture. It's interesting to look at the history of rap and see that it first started out as a tool of protest against white oppression. Look at what it is now. White corporate America hsa managed to take a tool of resistance and reappropriate it to meet their own ends....profit maximization. It's all about the escalades with the spinners and the glock to make sure that no tries to hotwire ur new ride. We live in a culture that glorfies sex, violence, and material things. Who's profiting off of this culture? Not black ppl that's fo sho. And now you got white kids and chinese kids and other kids of other ethnicities trying to be gangstas too (and white men in the board room are all like..."crap! not our kids. This was only meant for blacks!")

So now they wanna tell me that gunlaws are going to help the problem? U can probably do more for the struggle by rolling down Rodeo drive California with a shotgun in hand.

awwww aren't they cute

and on the other side of the world: wait a minute...are those guns...real?
