u know besdies social work, i wonder what it'd be like if i became a Toronto sports writer. I think my ability to talk about sports more than makes up for inadequacies in playing sports. I point the blame finger at my parents for enrolling me into too many music and arts classes and not throwing me into a house league. Ahh well. Let bygones be bygones. Here are my thoughts on recent events in the world of baseball and basketball for toronto's faithful:
Bluejays signing BJ Ryan to 5 years at 47 million
Huge signing. With the name BJ, you know it was only a matter of time before he returned home to the (BLUEJAYS...just in case ur head was somewhere else with reference to the acronyms in his name). Here's the next step in maturation for a good developing ballclub. We've got a decent core of kids who we raised in our farm and now we're just finishing the puzzle by adding some more pieces on the side...hopefully within the next few weeks we'll add a couple of more pieces by the name of AJ and maybe Giles. That would be a fun and competitive team to watch.
Raptors suck now It's true, but i remain optimistic that it's all part of the big plan. Babcock even said in the start of the season, which was a pretty dumb move on his part, that we'd do worse than last season given our youth movement. So yeah, nothing totally unexpected here...we're just probably a little worse than we iniitally thought we were. But the kids look promising. Love me charlie vanilla and Calderon and Graham has some hops. Give them a full season together and we'll be looking a lot better. Take into account that we'll be pulling in two more first rounders in the next (but weaker) draft, bring over our overseas kids, throw jalen rose in the garbage can come contract expiry time and we got ourselves a whole new look. Best possible scenario I see is us developing into the Bulls who basically pulled the plug on their vets and started to play their kids. Albeit our kids are not as good as theirs but here's hoping we might have a similar impact. Until then, just bite ur tongue and make sure u take plenty Peptol Bismol after every loss.
Yeah man and for the Leafs.... just get the cylinder shaped ball thing into the hoop or mesh. Yeah. Go Leafs Go. |

who is bj ryan? the fact i don't know who he is means giving him 47mil is suspect
calderon will turn out to be a premier pg in the league if he continues to develop charlie still a little raw - has good and bad nites graham has nothing to offer so far but is a prospect araujo still developing but developing slowly

reciprocity sam and bj ryan jordan was pretty lights out last year for the orioles in his first year as closer. He's turning 30 this year, doesn't have as much shine as marian rivera or a billy wagner but if he performs like last year, i'll feel a lot better about taking a lead into the 8th and 9th innnings. Tru we might have been able to get him with a bit less, but that's a huge gamble to take. No points in being number 2 in the bidding war
