left side????? STRONG SIDE!

This (Remember the Titans) wasn't my favourite movie but it's getting some consideration now of entering into my top 10 (Shawshank Redemption reigns king). But it is good for getting you really amped (especially now that we have softball on wknds now). Speaking of softball, it's not so much the winning and losing that makes the sport fun. It's the feeling of being on the field or on the diamond with a glove in hand waiting for the pitch to come out... Knowing that at the crack of the bat, that ball could be headed in ur direction and knowing that if that's the case, it's on you to make the play cause ur team's depending on you... and then when the ball hits the leather, u bobble it a few times before letting it drop to the ground. Well the last part actually feels like a shot to the nuts but everything else is money mixed with some light feelings of Vangundiness.

And this tanning business is happening faster than expected. Zak pointed it out tonite at BBC practice and made me realize that I might actually hit hawaiian before the end of july. Vee, according to her blog, has already hit this stage so it's comforting to know i'm not alone. Not like there's anything wrong with Hawaiians or darkskindedness. Hey I'm not racist. I love hawaiians. I love black people. I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE! SHOOOWW MEEEE THHEEE MONNNEEEYYYY! you had me at hello.

Can you smell that? Trade Winds are brewing! the NbaDraft is right around the corner! But i'm out of the prediction bizness since my guffup with the NBA finals.

and wordemup to all for the warm encouragement regarding the mixtape. And for the record, i don't love madonna so much as i love how her songs mix really well with each other... but pre-coke whitney, on the other hand, is money. I mean the girl just wants to dance with somebody who loves her. Don't we all? Come on now! How can u not love whitney? I'm pretty sure Bobby brown loves her. Let's all love her.

alright, peter owen everybody.
dar

> On a side note, I'm surprised that no one pointed out the randomness of Soul Survivor's Eye of the Tiger being on the tape. I mean, who mixes in the theme song to Rocky with Jermaine Stewart's the Word is Out? I did it for jokes. Come on! How did u not notice that? Did you even listen to the tape? I mean you could have just said, "You made a mixtape? Nice! But I don't think I'm going to give it a listen cause I don't feel like it." I would have been all, "Hey it's a free country and don't worry cause you not wanting to listen to my mix in no way hurts our friendship or my feelings." But now you just went and told a stone cold lie to my face. Thanks. Friendship harmed as well as feelings. Thanks a lot.

>> On another note, it's time to catch the wave and ride it out! BBC baby!

a new post for the sake of having a new post

Re: NBA FINALS: detroit what! if i was a betting man, i'd say steel city would edge out san antonio in a nail biter. player of the game will be rip hamilton. Darrendamous has spoken.

Re: NBA Draft: i follow the stories leading up the draft almost religiously spending hours each day reading Mock drafts and reading how player workouts went. Toronto has number 7 and 16 in the first and 38 and 58 in the second. I don't expect us to trade up to the top 3 just cause it'll be too expensive to do so. I think with number 7, we'll end up either taking a highschool combo guard or forward a la Green or Webster (if available) or one of the 3 athletic physical college forwards, Granger, Graham, or Wright. But yeah, it's fun to speculate and this draft looks exciting given how deep it is this year... not superstar deep but solid starter/roleplayer deep. I love me the raptors.

Re: Summercamp: starts on the 4th of july. Right now prepping materials to teach at the grade 2-3 level. Tangrams are fun. We're going to be doing a lot of tangrams... and a lot of bookreports as well. Time to get them kiddies off of the digimons or superduperdinopowerzilla powerrangers episodes and onto some independent readings for the summer. goooooo learning! Boourns to set wakeup times from then on to the end and henceforth, regular gotobed times.

Re: ETCBC: Yeah i'm pretty much sold now for the summer. This place is money. The dynamic duo of Alfred and Tim speaking on Sundays is money. Friends there are money. Money is money! GG ET!

Re: Branded by Christ 2k5: this conference looks to be money as well and am really blessed to be able to serve on the worship team. Here's some spam: BBC. Practices are two nights a week but one falls on monday nights which means i won't be able to be at summer CCF for many dates which brings me to...

Re: Summer CCF: wiggety wack that i can't be in two places at once. See if i was multiple man then i wouldn't have that problem or mister fantastic, maybe i'd be able to stretch and phyisically be in both places at the same time. Where are my mutant genes?

Re: Softball: can't wait to get started on them games and the upcoming team festivities including summerlicious and ottawa for Canada's birthday... and given the sun, not so looking forward to creating farmer tans and knee pad tans and glove tans? Here's to Gab Tsang who said it first that he wanted to become an even shade of bronze for the summer. Little did he know that he was really speaking for all of us... or at least all of me. <---that's a song!

Re: Catcher in the Rye: i just finished that book and it's pretty depressing. Let's hope that A Curious Incident about A Dog at Nighttime or something along those lines reads better. If not then im going to have to up my dosage of prozak

Wow you've gotten this far in this post so far. I feel like i owe you a prize. you can have this one: =)

woot woot

Woot woot! gots me a new v511 phizone in the mizail. Helllizo Mottizo! Woot Woot! Now all need are some hawt glow sticks to rizawk when the phizone gets the ring ring. (cause seriously, all the ringtones are ambient trance/techno beats... i mean would it kill these phonegeeks to install one mariah ringtune with the default tone instead of a million boomboomboomboomboomboomboom whistle boomboomboomboom whistle whistle beats instead?)

June 23 edit: sacrificed 3 bones so i could have jimmy eats world's "work" play for incoming calls. The only setback is that i really liked the soundbyte (all 15 seconds of it) and consequently, i might miss calls just to listen to the ring in its entirety. A small price to pay for 15 seconds of alternative bliss. I dropped an additional 2 bones to get the brown eyed girl ring tune just cause i was curious. It stanks limburger cuz it sounds very very midi like somebody published the song on a 1960s Toys R Us Casio Karaoke keyboard. But seriously, i gotta stop throwing away my money like that. Just out of curiousity? who does that? Well i figure that if i win tickets to the avril lavigne concert then that would justify my "paying to see the flop" decision (cause everyone who buys a Ringtone now is entered into the Avril sweepstakes). Oh well... for 5 bones i no longer have to hear the "Hello Moto boom boom whistle whistle tweak boom boom boom robot sound robot sound" ring =)

this is going to be a quickie
i waiting for my dad right now to finish a chapter of the book he's reading before we head out to do some maintenance work for the dayvcare that my mom owns. He says he'll be done in 10 minutes so i figure i might as well make the 10 minutes count.

Here's the mandatory kingston update that i promised in the last post which happened about 2 weeks ago: Real goot times. Went up with james and eric to stay from monday to thursday. Spent the days working hard (on econ) and the nights playing hard, but not really that hard cause my leg was still gimp. Actually the 3 of us, when eric and james were not duelling it on on mlb 2k6, played poker much of our freetimes, enuf to get sick of the game but actually the more i play, the more i wanna play. Go fig? Tuff wknd to visit tho since a lot of the kids up there were writing essays or facing deadlines or just generally had very busy work schedules but made a point to visit and drop by to almost everybody that we wanted to see. But kingston's always goottimes, except for the heat. guy. the heat was death. Really makes you just wanna go up to a fan and hug it and give it the attention that it deserves.

And now it looks like my dad has finished which means so has this post. Had a real fun field of dreams softball day yesterday which i will update on a lil later and some other fun stuff too.

words and phrases of the summer
had a long time fun week back in kingtown and will update later about the exploits and memories. Tonite I feel the need to share/break down the new phrases/slangs of summer that i'm starting to use. Much influence for my usage of these new words and phrases comes from ken leung, jus and james lau. That's not to say that they are my sole influences this summer, but i must give credit where it's due: I think i'm starting to talk like them. But there are some other ones that i've grabbed from other places. So let's break down some of the more popular ones in use right now

GG: an acronym for "Good game". Originally used by avid gamers to express their approval and delight over a said match of game-age, GG is now used to express approval and delight over virtually anything that warrants such approval. Credit ken for making this one stick. GG Katz for scoring the new banking job! GG indeed!

i love me some/that...: It's the same as saying "I Love..." but you just add a "me" and a "some" or "that" at the end to produce desired effect. Credit the lau boys on this one. All week, james loves him this and loves him that... Geeeeez! I Love me that zak. I mean what's not to love there?

That's/He's/She's money!: There is much value in the said object/event/action/person. I don't know who to credit for this one. This one has been circling for centuries and i'm only starting to up the usage now. Tostitos with salsa and sour cream with melted cheddar on top? That's money!

jerk(face): Contrary to pop usage, it's actually a term of endearment. The bigger the jerk, the more love. When james first called me a jerkface i took some offense until he schooled me on its usage. That jerkface. Credit the Lau's on this one again. Kerwin Wong has gotta be one of the biggest jerks I've ever known. That stinkin jerkface.

Wiggety-wack: That sucks or that's messed up in some uncool way that leads to disapproval. First time i heard wiggety wack was from kris-kross telling me to Jump so let's give them credit for this zinger. Again not necessarily a new one but one i've caught myself saying lately. Haters who diss my uber-cool red chuck taylors are wiggety-wiggety-wiggety wack and don't know jack, jack!

Don't need no hater-ation, holler-atin' in this dance for me: Noooooo Scccrrrruuuubbss as TLC put it. Get out, Get out, Get out of here says Busta Rhymes. All Pretty similar in meaning. It's all about showing haters the door. Credit Mary J Blige from Family Affair. I'll admit i haven't used this one much yet but i'm banking on this one to catch fiyah and when it does i'll be there living it up. Again with the Red chucks? We don't need no hater-ation, holler-atin in this dance for me!

Don't Step: jeaaaah! don't test me cause i'm testy. watch yourself. Them's some true fightin words so be careful when u use these ones. Credit the "can't-dancers" who literally couldn't step and the dancers who would get up all in their faces telling them to "don't step" and keep their backs against the walls for this one. Don't step buddy. I got Aces up the wazoo in this hand.

... and for the sake of originality i am now going to let you in on a zinger created by urs truly. Remember where you got this from when it slips out when u're talking to ur folks and friends. Cheers!

Van-Gundy or Gundy or JVG: adjective with the meaning of something involving an extremely high level of stress. Credit NBA Houston Rockets head coach Jeff Van Gundy for this one. No one puts more stress on his body than this man. Have you seen the bags under his eyes? Have you noticed the rapid hairloss? That man is the epitome of stress! Geeez! That ump test was straight Van-Gundy! But it's all good cause it's over and done with =)

JVG: it's a miracle that he hasn't just spontaneously combsted yet. No one needs him some warm milk more than this man

random random random. I made it out of clay.
so i'm actually in the middle of doing a self quiz for microeconomics and am trying to figure out supply and demand and since i'm a little stumped, i'm thinking, it's been almost 7 hours since i've last updated this blog, so why not update now?

i find that whenever i try to write or type something out, i spend way too much time trying to organize my thoughts together, which probably explains why i need the full 3 hours when writing exams or the whole week to write an essay. So for the sake of this entry, I'm just going to try to type out my thoughts as they run thru my head, so apologies if this entry presents you with problems in understanding. And there's probably going to be a lot of run on sentences like the english translated letters from the apostle paul.

Dj JrFlo who is a toronto hiphop/rnb DJ gave me a DJ lesson at my home two years ago. I see him all the time now in Goodlife but can't bring myself to say hello, cause i missed the opportunity to introduce myself again when i saw him the first time. So now it's just weird cause i think he recognizes me too but can't place me so it's pretty weird whenever i'm there and he's there too. Kevin from qseac also is there everyday and i see him a lot too. Nice guy that kevin. But on the real, working out at Goodlife is like opening up an old yearbook. A lot of old faces pass thru there. like SCBC fred, Wilson from venezuela, hiphop recording artists BrassMunk... wonder if they're working on any new projects? Speaking of new projects, the mixtape project is done and will be uploaded very soon thanks to james teow and nels leung who have graciously agreed to share webspace with me and design a splash page. Umm....whats also on my mind...softball! Yeah i really did fail the ump test. U need a 65 to stay alive and i scored a 51.5 but when u round up, that's 52... sooo close to the cutoff. But looking forward to big exciting softball weekend. Saturday is team bonding and practice day and sunday is the annual etcbc softball tourney. Fun! I'm actually excited about a lot of things in the future: Going back to ktown sometime (unfortunately not next week) to see josh dano johnny andy and now that i come to think of it, i probably shouldn't have listed names because that means that someone might be left out, and subsequently feel left out. Well truth be told, im looking forward to seeing everyone i haven't seen in a while again. I'm really excited about what God has in plan for the youth of this generation. I'm excited for tuesday night meetings at jesse sudirgo's place where we're for planning YOAH 3 to complete the trilogy. Just joking. We're just meeting up to fellowship together. I'm really excited for Branded by Christ where i will have the opportunity to serve on the praise team alongside zak caleb carrie derek gene et al in august, but man, i gotta say that there's something real special there (the BBC ministry) and am praying that God will show up big. I'm excited for my future days ahead cause i know that God has big plans in store and i feel so blessed that i just might be able to play a part. And what God is preparing me for i have no clue... but i get a feeling anytime the subject of missions is tossed around in prayer or in sermons or convo.

I am so blesssed to be constantly surrounded by people who challenge and encourage me and value me as a friend. If you are reading these words right now then that means u fall into the "blessings" category for me... unless u just happened by coincidence to stumble upon darren's sharing time... well let's call u a future blessing then that is unless u have no intent whatsoever to be a blessing and instead embody nothing but hate and malice towards me and make attempts on my life. I'll view you as a challenge, and thus, you'd still serve as a blessing in my life, but i'd still call the cops. yeah maybe that doesn't qualify you as a blessing from God. yoh this post is pretty random and this econ problem isn't getting done with my focus on typing out these words. Time to bring it to an end. Oh yeah, also looking forward to working out to an aerobics class with katz and ericson and scary movie/book club with elimo and vano. And watching 24 season 1 which i borrowed from friend justin rajroop <--- that show is like Lays chips... betcha can't eat just one... except by eat i mean watch. Speaking of watch look at the time. It's 2:24AM. Dang. Well, last but not least, im looking forward to meeting with you. Yep...that's right... you. no don't look over your shoulder. I'm talking to you. So leave me a comment and we'll get this ball a rolling. Cheers
